Trujillo's colonial Plaza de Armas turns golden at dusk — a picture-perfect gateway to some of the most important pre-Columbian ruins in all of South America.

After finally feeling better we managed to leave Lima. We took a night bus by Cruz del Sur heading North. 🚌 Only 9 (rough) hours later we arrived in Trujillo. 😅😴 Trujillo has a beautiful city center, the Plaza de Armas, with a lot of buildings from the colonial era.

The city is also known for its remarkable pre-Incan archaeological sites nearby: the Huacas del Sol y de la Luna (Temples of the Sun and the Moon) and Chan Chan, one of the largest pre-Columbian cities in America. When we visited Trujillo, it also happend to be the 8th Trujillo Book Festival, an international literary fair with a lot of book stands and even concerts at night. 📕📖🙂
